Excessive Advertising

The idea of covering the effect advertising has on us can be quite powerful and can certainly make you think. After viewing the documentary "Art and Copy" by Doug Pray, I have taken a different angle on the power of advertising and its effect it can have on every day life. This has moved on from my previous idea of looking at how advertising effects greed and the consiquences behind it.

I have been looking at past techniques of advertising from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Wording and images have changed dramatically over the decades as people have realised that interests and modivation to take notice of advertisments has become minimal to those whose attention is trying to be captured.

Advertisements used to contain paragraphs and paragraphs as to why the product should be purchased. Today the advertisement has minimal wording and images of people, objects, etc that people like. The add might not always make sense but it must grab your attention to divert your eyes to the subject at bay.
